Harley Eagle

Built in 2018 to put on display at Mountainview Harley Davidson. located in Chilliwack BC.

Kevin created a mixed medium metal eagle using stainless and steel to create a similar sculpture to the larger eagle built for Dollywood in 2011. With an attacking pose and stainless steel head and tail feathers this eagle has a 12-foot wingspan and a metal base so it could be displayed on the floor at the dealership. After installation, the dealership advertised the eagle on display through social media and was soon snatched up by another dealership located in Calgary Alberta. The Eagle is now owned and proudly on display in the Calgary Harley Davidson Dealership.

The Power of Flight

“Power of Flight” is the second piece in a series of bald eagle sculptures I have recently completed. Growing up in beautiful British Columbia, Canada, I have always had a fascination and appreciation for nature and the vast array of wildlife that inhabit these lands – in particular the bald eagles that migrate annually throughout British Columbia during mating season. Their strength, dominance and beauty draw spectators from around the world, who want to view these magnificent birds in their habitat.

I have always found the bald eagle to be an inspiration to me both artistically and spiritually. They signify incredible power and dominance in their environment, and yet at the same time are the most graceful, beautiful and elegant species of bird I have observed.

The fascination and admiration I have for the bald eagle inspired me to want to capture the essence of this respected creature, both in its dominating role in nature, as well as the graceful and peaceful elegance the bald eagle displays in its natural environment.

The first piece in my bald eagle series, “Power and Authority”, is a massive 20’ tall mirror-polished stainless steel bald eagle in an attacking stance. In this first piece, I wanted to capture the dominating, powerful presence of the bald eagle. With eyes focused on its prey, legs extended in an attacking mode, and the 31’ wings spread, the viewer can experience the incredible sense of power the bald eagle emits.

My recently completed second piece in the series “Power of Flight” is intended to capture the streamlined efficiency and grace of this amazing bird. This large-scale, mirror-polished, stainless steel sculpture has an impressive 41’ wingspan, which is gracefully spread to full capacity, as the eagle is taking off in flight. This piece is designed to be displayed either indoors or outdoors and is suitable for a garden or water display. “Power of Flight” can be displayed at its current height of 11’, or can be elevated to hover over its audience.

Capturing the different aspects of the amazing bald eagle in my sculpture series has provided me with a deeper sense of spirituality personally and in my artistic mindset. Sharing my pieces with the public allows me the opportunity to open that door for everyone to experience that same awe-inspiring majestic presence I am so drawn to.

The Chinese Imperial Water Dragon

Metal Sculptor Kevin Stone has been featured in local and international media several times over the last few years starting back in 2006 with his unveiling of “Power and Authority” - his 31-foot stainless steel eagle in the attacking pose. Then again in 2007 with the world's largest stainless steel sculpture “Power of Flight” - his second and more detailed eagle with an amazing 41-foot wingspan. Now Kevin has completed his most challenging project to date, a Chinese Imperial Water Dragon.

For almost two years, Kevin worked seven days a week, and has now completed in what has become one of the greatest stainless steel sculptures to ever be unveiled anywhere in the world! Kevin Stone has produced an exquisite world-class sculpture with unsurpassed detail and on a scale and size of incredible proportions, Weighing over 12,000 lbs. and standing 12 feet high, 14 feet wide, 35 feet long (mounted position) with two large coils in the body. Stretched out this incredible sculpture would be over 85 feet long! I wanted to challenge myself and do something on a scale that no one had seen. The Dragon was a very challenging project to build and very difficult to complete. It currently remains unsold and I  hope that it will find a home where the public can enjoy this piece for many years to come.

Chinese Mythology has been an interest of mine for many years. I decided to combine that interest with my passion for fantasy art in my most impressive piece to date, The Chinese Imperial Water Dragon. I have designed a double coiling dragon, created in mirror-polish stainless steel with an overall length of 35 feet and standing 12 feet tall at the head and tail. Having a total body length including the coils of almost 85ft long. This piece is intended to capture the embodiment of the concept of yang.

I incorporated the nine entities of the Chinese Dragon into my piece, representing many different types of animals on the earth. The head representative of the camel, the scales represent that of a carp, the horns of a giant deer, the eyes of a rabbit, the ears of a bull, the neck of a snake, the belly of a clam, the paws of a tiger and the claws of an eagle.

The dragon has one foot extended and elevated to hold a giant pearl signifying the world and represent celestial and terrestrial power, wisdom and strength. This piece can be beautifully displayed in a water setting ( where the dragon is believed to reside) signifying wealth and good luck.

In creating this piece, I intended to represent and pay homage to the significance of the Dragon in both the Chinese culture and many other cultures who have varying interpretations of what this mythical creature depicts.

Creating my vision of the “Imperial Water Dragon” was an artistic challenge and accomplishment that is a personal highlight of my career as an artist. To be able to learn from other cultures and incorporate the beliefs, folklore and design style into my own artistic creation and share my creation within that culture is an honor as an artist and human being. Expanding our knowledge of our own culture and beliefs, as well as our fellow mankind, makes our vast world much smaller and opens doors to understanding and growing individually and collectively.

Power and Authority

“Power and Authority” is a 20’ high sculpture, with a 31’ wingspan, that brought Kevin international attention as a metal sculptor. This piece was completed in 2006 and was completely hand fabricated from surgical-grade stainless steel, and finished in a hand-polished mirror finish. The beauty and detail of this piece is unparalleled and is realistic in detail from every angle. This piece took on a life of its own, with over 2000 people attending the unveiling. This sculpture has been sold.

The Totem

The Totem was a personal project I wanted to do. Back at the end of 2010, things were slow and I wanted to do something that might sell locally. So I decided to build a Totem out of stainless steel, I like to build faces and the Totem was a great way to express that.

My personal feelings about the Totem run deep, Having been born and raised on the West Coast and Vancouver Island. I grew up surrounded by Native culture and have known many great Native Carvers and pole builders over the years. trying to stay with traditional styling I spent several months completing the Totem you see here. Standing 12 feet tall the pole represents a souls journey through life. Starting at the bottom the spirit has brought a young soul to this world to be born as seen in his open mouth. Above and in the middle of the pole is the young soul's spirit guide to help him find his way in the new world. And on top is the spirit Eagle who takes the soul back to the spirit realm and lives his life out on earth.

This incredible piece was sold before completion and now resides in West Vancouver with a beautiful view overlooking the ocean as it was meant to be. The build of the totem was aired on an episode of Discovery Chanel’s Daily Planet in March 2011.

Dollywood

In 2011 I was contracted to do a piece for Dolly Parton’s “Dollywood Theme Park”, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. I was asked to create a mascot for their newly built, first-of-its-kind, winged roller-coaster. Called the Wild Eagle. The Dollywood Eagle has an impressive 56-foot wingspan and weighs a staggering 12,000 pounds. This one-of-a-kind three-dimensional sculpture is made of a mixture of stainless and rusting mild steel. The ferrous steel will rust and provide contrast in color against the stainless steel, giving the eagle a rustic patina suitable for a turn-of-the-century theme park. Unveiled February 28, 2012, at the entrance to the latest Dollywood roller-coaster, the famous ‘Wild Eagle’, it continues to amaze and impress tourists from all over the world who visit the park daily.

Memorial Eagle

Commissioned privately in 2017, the soaring eagle represents the protector and carrier of the soul back to heaven.

With a rainbow clutched in his claws to show his spirit arrived safely to Heaven. Dedicated in memory of a young man who lost his life tragically in a car accident at the young age of 18. Overlooking the beautiful lake in front of the families property, he will be proudly displayed in loving memory of their son.

Gargoyle

Kevin's first sculpture was a 7 ft. tall and 8 ft. long winged gargoyle built from scraps around the shop.
